With frauds currently costing Australians over $14 million thus far in 2019, the Australian Competition and customer Commission (ACCC) is once again warning older Australians become vigilant due to their electronic security.

Johanna Miscichowski through the Government’s workplace for the eSafety Commissioner says studies have shown Australians over 65 will be the many at risk of frauds and cybercrime.
“An overall shortage of expertise with technology and low electronic literacy prices often means older Australians are less prepared to interpret jargon that can be too trusting when handing over private information,” Ms Miscichowski states.
“Given the nature that is ever-present of, plus the undeniable fact that there are many seniors getting online each year, we do expect how many those being geared to increase.”
Uncommon web or e-mail addresses, ‘too good to be’ that is true or some body demanding bank information may be indications a contact or call is a fraud, Ms Miscichowski claims.
“Fake email messages are a typical way of stealing information that is personal since are unforeseen telephone calls and voicemail communications. The phone phone calls may need action that is immediate as creating a re payment, having bank reports shut or having to pay taxation debts,” she claims.
